ROMOXIBENDAZOL TABLETS is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic for pigs recommended for pigs in the dehelminthization and control of endoparasites caused by Ascaris suum, Trichocephalus suis, Metastrongylus elongatus, Metastrongylus salmi, Metastrongylus pudendotectus, Strogyloides ransomi, Trichinella spiralis (adult intestinal form and larval migration form), Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus, Cysticercus cellulosae .

DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
ROMOXIBENDAZOL is administered orally, in dry feed, at a single meal in a single dose of 15 mg active substance/kg body weight/day (i.e. 1 tablet/10 kg body weight/day); the calculated dose is administered in a reduced amount of feed, so that the animals consume the entire amount of medicated feed, then non-medicated feed is administered. It is recommended to perform the treatment once every 3 months.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
Good homogenization of the product in the feed will be ensured.
The indicated doses will be respected.

In animals intended for slaughter for meat: 28 days from the last treatment.

SPECIAL WARNINGS
The weight of the animals will be correctly assessed to avoid overdoses or underdosages.
The amount of medicinal product calculated to be administered will be incorporated into a quantity of feed that is estimated to be completely consumed by the animals, and then they will be given non-medicated feed (not containing the veterinary medicinal product ROMOXIBENDAZOL). This will avoid the development of parasite resistance to the active substance and therapeutic inefficiency. Good incorporation of the product into the feed will be ensured. The indicated doses will be respected.
In case of accidental ingestion of the product or allergy caused by its contact with the skin, seek medical advice immediately and show the product leaflet or the label.
It can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
In case of acute poisoning, symptomatic therapy and general supportive measures for the animal should be initiated.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR THE DISPOSAL OF UNUSED VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCTS OR WASTE MATERIALS, IF ANY
Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from the use of such products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
Treated animals will be kept in shelters throughout the treatment period and the collected manure will not be used for soil fertilization.
PHARMACODYNAMIC PROPERTIES
Oxibendazole belongs to the group of benzimidazoles which are broad-spectrum anthelmintic substances with a high degree of efficacy and a good safety margin. Benzimidazoles bind selectively to parasite tubulin and prevent its polymerization, so that microtubules can no longer be formed. They also inhibit the parasitic enzyme fumarate reductase which is essential for the secretion of several parasitic enzymes. At mammalian body temperature benzimidazoles bind predominantly to parasite tubulin.
PHARMACOKINETICS PROPERTIES
Oxibendazole, administered orally, is rapidly absorbed and diffuses into all organs and tissues, producing lysis of endoparasites, regardless of their location (digestive tract, respiratory system, various tissues).

DOSI PER CIASCUNA SPECIE, VIA E MODALITÀ DI SOMMINISTRAZIONE
ROMOXIBENDAZOLO si somministra per via orale, nell'alimento secco, in un unico pasto in un'unica dose di 15 mg di principio attivo/kg peso vivo/giorno (ovvero 1 compressa/10 kg peso vivo/giorno); la dose calcolata viene somministrata in una quantità ridotta di mangime, in modo che gli animali consumino l'intera quantità di mangime medicato, quindi viene somministrato mangime non medicato. Si consiglia di effettuare il trattamento una volta ogni 3 mesi.
RACCOMANDAZIONI RIGUARDANTI LA CORRETTA AMMINISTRAZIONE
Sarà garantita una buona omogeneizzazione del prodotto nell'alimentazione.
Le dosi indicate verranno rispettate.

AVVERTENZE SPECIALI
Il peso degli animali sarà valutato correttamente per evitare sovradosaggi o sottodosaggi.
La quantità di medicinale calcolata da somministrare sarà incorporata in una quantità di mangime che si prevede possa essere consumata per intero in sicurezza dagli animali, e quindi verrà somministrato mangime non medicato (non contenente il medicinale veterinario ROMOXIBENDAZOLO). In questo modo si eviterà la comparsa di resistenze parassitarie al principio attivo e di inefficacia terapeutica. Sarà garantita una buona incorporazione del prodotto nel mangime. Verranno rispettate le dosi indicate.
In caso di ingestione accidentale del prodotto o di allergie causate dal contatto con la pelle, consultare immediatamente il medico e presentare il foglietto illustrativo o l'etichetta del prodotto.
Può essere utilizzato durante la gravidanza e l'allattamento.
In caso di avvelenamento acuto, devono essere avviate una terapia sintomatica e misure generali di supporto per l'animale.
PRECAUZIONI PARTICOLARI PER LO SMALTIMENTO DEL MEDICINALE VETERINARIO NON UTILIZZATO O DEI RIFIUTI, COME NECESSARIO
Qualsiasi medicinale veterinario non utilizzato o i rifiuti derivanti dall’uso di tali prodotti devono essere smaltiti in conformità con le normative locali.
Gli animali trattati verranno tenuti in ricoveri per tutto il periodo del trattamento e le deiezioni raccolte non verranno utilizzate per concimare il terreno.
PROPRIETÀ FARMACODINAMICHE
L'ossibendazolo fa parte del gruppo dei benzimidazoli, sostanze antielmintiche ad ampio spettro d'azione, con un elevato grado di efficacia e un buon margine di sicurezza. I benzimidazoli si legano selettivamente alla tubulina del parassita e ne impediscono la polimerizzazione, quindi i microtubuli non possono più formarsi. Producono anche l'inibizione dell'enzima parassitario fumarato reduttasi che è essenziale per la secrezione di diversi enzimi parassiti. Alla temperatura corporea dei mammiferi, i benzimidazoli si legano prevalentemente alla tubulina del parassita.
PROPRIETÀ FARMACOCINETICHE
L'ossibendazolo, somministrato per via orale, viene rapidamente assorbito e diffonde in tutti gli organi e tessuti, producendo la lisi degli endoparassiti, indipendentemente dalla loro localizzazione (tratto digerente, sistema respiratorio, tessuti vari).
